Port of Blyth’s ‘Shaping the Future of Offshore Wind’ Mini-Conference
We will be joining other businesses in the offshore wind sector to celebrate the role of Blyth in the past, current and future, focusing on opportunities and challenges for future offshore wind growth in the UK and further afield. The event will encourage open dialogue and healthy debate, to tease out the views of both developers and Tier 1 contractors. It will give all parties the opportunity to ask questions and discuss how we can work together to successfully deliver offshore wind.
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
Venue: Energy Central Learning Hub, Blyth NE24 3PA
Ticket Price: Free
Coordinated by NOF, this event is being held as part of Port of Blyth’s celebrations to mark 25 years of involvement in offshore wind. It will focus on opportunities and challenges for offshore wind growth – and we’ll be attending – after all the event is taking place next door to our HQ!

About Port of Blyth
The Port of Blyth is celebrating a major milestone, marking 25 years of involvement in the offshore wind sector. As the home of the UK’s first demonstration offshore wind farm, installed in 2000, the Port has been at the heart of the industry’s development, contributing to the growth of the sector and supporting the transition to renewable energy in the UK and beyond.
The Port’s rich history in the wind sector dates back to 1993, when Blyth Harbour Wind Farm, the first in the UK in a ‘marine environment’, was established. This pioneering project featured 9 x 0.3 MW turbines located on the East Pier, marking the beginning of the Port’s journey in renewable energy.
Then, in December 2000, Blyth made history by hosting the UK’s first offshore wind turbines. The Blyth Offshore Demonstrator wind farm, which consisted originally of two 2MW Vestas wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 66m, which at the time were the largest turbines installed offshore in the world.
