First Marketers’ Meet-Up brings community together

Strategies, SEO tactics, chatbots, marrying sales and marketing functions… all of these and more were in focus at the first Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up event, which was held at our HQ on 7th June.
Marketing, sales and business development professionals from across the engineering and manufacturing community came together for the event, which was delivered with Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN).
Part of EMN’s extensive events programme, the free Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up events offer a space to discuss challenges, benefit from impartial advice, gain sector insight and see how other businesses have shaped their marketing strategies and implemented tactics.
Guest speaker Ben Moody, Marketing Manager of Alexander Battery Technologies, winner of the Insider Made In The North East Manufacturer of the Year (under £25 million) award, delivered a fascinating presentation on the company’s journey… and how it built a marketing strategy to support growth.
The event also featured a lively panel discussion featuring our Managing Director, Samantha Vassallo, Neil Johnson, sales engineer at EWM Hightec Welding UK Ltd and Ben, and the panel also took questions from the audience.
Ailsa Anderson, Director of Development at EMN, spoke about the network’s new events programme, the EMCON Engineering & Manufacturing Show and how engineering and manufacturing companies can benefit from membership.
Samantha Vassallo, Managing Director of Horizon Works, said: “We were delighted to welcome EMN members and professionals from the engineering and manufacturing sector to Horizon Works in June.
“There was a real sense of community at the event and it was particularly pleasing to see delegates networking, contributing to the session and sharing their experiences of marketing and sales in engineering and manufacturing businesses.
“Ben and Neil brought their own unique insights into marketing and sales to the session, and we’d like to thank them for their fantastic contributions to the event.”
The next Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up will take place from midday to 2pm on 12th July at Horizon Works’ Event Space at Northumberland Business Park near Cramlington, Northumberland.
This time, we’ll be focusing on ‘Bringing engineering and manufacturing to life – the power of animation, VR and AR’ and the event will feature guest speaker Paul Smyth. Paul, who is Horizon Works’ animation partner, is Senior Lecturer at Newcastle College and is programme lead on the BA Hons Digital Design Apprenticeships.
A further Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up is scheduled for 18th October.
