Horizon Works supports celebration of North East manufacturing

The strength of North East England’s manufacturing sector was highlighted at a major awards event in March – and we were very proud to play a part in it!

Horizon Works sponsored the Manufacturer of the Year (under £25 million) category in the Insider Made In The North East Awards 2023, which were held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Hotel on March 16 in association with the Engineering and Manufacturing Network.

Peterlee-based custom battery solutions manufacturer Alexander Battery Technologies won the Manufacturer of the Year (under £25 million) award at the glittering ceremony, and the company’s team were presented with the award by our managing director, Samantha Vassallo.

Alexander Battery Technologies was part of an impressive shortlist for the award, which included Arian EMS, Black Hills Products, BTS Facades & Fabrications, Ford Aerospace, iPac Packaging Innovations, Marmax Products, NTG Precision Engineers and Turnmill Engineering.

The other winners on the night were: Tees Components (Manufacturing Apprenticeship/Training Scheme Award); QuantuMDx (Manufacturing Innovation Award); CAV Systems (Export Award); Reproflex3 (Digital engineering/Technology Award); Prima Cheese (Food & Drink Award); iPac Packaging Innovations (Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer Award); Ford Aerospace (Automotive, Aerospace & Rail Award); Sterling Pharma Solutions (Medical Life Sciences & Healthcare Award); Adam Steadman, CAV Systems (Apprentice of the Year); and Miller (Manufacturer of the Year (over £25 million).

Samantha Vassallo said: “Our congratulations go to Alexander Battery Technologies and to all of the other winners of the Insider Made In The North East Awards. We were delighted to lend our support to such a prestigious event.

“North East England is home to a diverse and vibrant manufacturing sector, and this was reflected in all of the innovative and forward-thinking businesses which were shortlisted for awards.
