PFF Packaging Group leads the way with two acquisitions
PFF Packaging Group, one of the UK’s leading independent plastic food packaging manufacturers, has strengthened its capabilities and product offering with the acquisitions of North East-based firms Intelligent Packaging Solutions (IPS) and Thermopak.
The acquisitions will increase PFF Packaging Group’s workforce to more than 225 employees and enable the company to increase production to in excess of 60 million units per month.
As part of the acquisitions, PFF Packaging Group will benefit from the facilities offered by both companies’ manufacturing sites, along with an Innovation Centre which is housed at the IPS premises in Washington. The Innovation Centre will provide a creative hub for the product packaging design team to work on bespoke solutions for their clients and will help to position PFF Packaging Group as a company at the cutting edge of packaging solutions. This will also complement the group’s 100,000 sq ft manufacturing site in Keighley.
Operating for more than 25 years, PFF Packaging Group has an established reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable packaging solutions to UK retailers.
The group also now has the status of being the only UK producer of the Desto cup. A combination of lightweight plastic inlet and cardboard wraparound sleeve, the Desto cup offers the advantages of both plastic and paper formats with a significant reduction of plastic content. This pioneering packaging solution is environmentally friendly and used in a range of sectors, from soup, porridge and dairy to ready meals and chilled foods.
Andy Bairstow, PFF Packaging Group’s Managing Director, commented: “The acquisition of Intelligent Packaging Solutions and Thermopak furthers strengthens our ability to provide the complete full service packaging solution – from initial concept through to final delivery of the product. In addition, it cements our position in the market place as one of the UK’s largest independent packaging manufacturers.
“We also felt it was the perfect time for PFF Packing Group to go through a rebrand process to reflect the evolution of the company and our new capabilities. The final part of this process is the launch of our new website which is an essential tool as we continue to grow and offers a new proposition to visitors. We wanted to create a site which illustrates our capabilities to deliver bespoke packaging and furthermore demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with the right packaging solution to meet their specific requirements. It is sleek, easy to navigate and offers a wealth of information on the group, whilst reinforcing the personal, high quality, professional service we strive to deliver at each stage of the ‘customer journey’ from concept to consumer.”
PFF Packaging Group’s clients include major branded food manufacturing companies, as well as well-known high street retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda, and emerging supermarket chains such as Aldi and Lidl.
The acquisition of the two sites will allow the company to build on existing client relationships and explore new opportunities.
