Creative campaigns and content to promote engineering apprenticeships

Sunderland Engineering Training Association (Seta) delivers engineering apprenticeships and commercial training courses. Based in Washington, it has been developing and transforming workforces in North East England and beyond for more than 40 years.

The challenge

Seta commissioned us to breathe new life into its marketing, and help it increase apprenticeship applications, against competition from other education providers.

Our work needed to encourage prospect apprentices to choose Seta as a provider, but also show that an engineering career could open up a world of opportunities. Content needed to both inspire and educate.

In addition, it was vital to raise awareness of Seta’s training capabilities and track record among employers and parents.

What we did

The ‘Behind great careers in engineering’ creative demonstrated how Seta has been the launchpad for thousands of engineering careers. We combined this with ‘Seta stories’, focusing on current and former apprentices – and sharing their experiences.

Engaging video content, animations, social media content, case studies and blogs all followed – and we equipped Seta with assets the team could use online and in person at schools and careers fairs.

The impact

Apprenticeship applications increased by 34%.

Engagement on Seta’s marketing channels increased significantly. Our Instagram advertising campaign, for example, boosted month to month profile visits by 95%, while Instagram followers increased by 130% from May 2024 to May 2025.

And now, Seta has a suite of adaptable assets that its team can use to promote apprenticeships, and a rich bank of powerful content.

They took the time to understand our goals and delivered a powerful, engaging campaign that truly connected with young people, parents and employers.

The bold visuals, messaging, and real apprentice stories brought everything to life, and the results speak volumes, with a 34% surge in applications!
