The Opportunities Series … #3 The vehicle electrification opportunity

In association with the North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) – opening up the electric vehicle (EV) sector for North East engineering and manufacturing businesses.

With many countries debating when to ban sales of internal combustion engines, Nissan is pressing ahead with plans to achieve 100% EV in Europe by 2030. This brings a significant opportunity for engineering and manufacturing businesses as a new supply chain is established, both across passenger vehicles and off-highway.

Time: 12.00 - 2.00pm

Venue: Horizon Works HQ, NE23 7RZ

Ticket Price: Free

There is an unparalleled level of expertise, innovation and investment that can be found within the North East region, that puts it at the forefront of the move to vehicle electrification. Demand for increased local content will offer huge opportunities for companies within the automotive supply chain, or those looking to enter it.

This session will discuss how the North East supply chain can support and accelerate the transition to zero emission mobility.

Taking place at our Event Space at Northumberland Business Park near Cramlington, the event will help you to understand what opportunities are available for North East-based manufacturing and engineering companies in the sector. There will also be networking, lunch and plenty of coffee too

Our guest speaker is Paul Butler, CEO of the NEAA. Paul’s presentation will:

  • Provide the latest insight into the National and local EV landscape, including EV36Zero and off-highway.
  • Discuss the North East EV supply chain needs and future demand.
  • Explore what support is available for SMEs wanting to diversify into the EV sector.

The event will also feature a case study from a North East-based manufacturer, which will provide further insight into how companies can diversify into the automotive and electrification sector.

In addition, there will be a panel discussion and Q and A session.

The event is free to attend for North East England-based engineering and manufacturing companies and is open to both members and non-members of the NEAA.

Since it was established in 2015, the NEAA has been championing the automotive sector in the North East of England. The not-for-profit, industry-led, automotive cluster supports the economic sustainable growth and competitiveness of the sector and provides an unparalleled collaborative network where companies gain from leadership and co-ordination of activities of mutual benefit.

With over 330 members it is the largest automotive cluster in the UK.
