North East England is home to an expanding space cluster. There are more than 40 companies in the region which are developing technologies for space or solutions utilising satellite applications, and 1300 people are employed in the sector.
And there’s more to come for the region, with cluster organisation Space North East England aiming to increase the number of jobs in the industry to 10,000 by 2030, building on the last ten years of growth.
So we’re delighted to have Elaine Scott, Centre Manager – Space North East England as our guest speaker for The Space Opportunity. Elaine’s presentation will cover:
- A guide to the space sector and North East England’s cluster
- An overview of the space economy and its market segments
- Key opportunities in the sector for engineering and manufacturing businesses
- How the global space market is changing
- The UK Government’s space strategy
In addition, The Space Opportunity will feature case studies from:
- Alnwick-based 3S Northumbria, which provides sustainable space solutions grounded in the principles of a circular economy for space
- Boyd Technologies, a leading innovator in sustainable engineered material and thermal solutions, which has a facility in Ashington.
These presentations will provide further insight into how companies can engage with the space sector. They’ll be followed by a panel discussion and Q and A session, giving delegates the chance to quiz the experts and gain further guidance. There’ll also be lunch, plenty of fresh coffee and networking!
The Space Opportunity, which will take place at our Event Space near Cramlington, Northumberland, is free to attend for North East England-based engineering and manufacturing companies.
