Horizon Works powers marketing for major higher education collaboration

We’re thrilled to announce that Horizon Works has been commissioned to provide marketing services to the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Process Industries: Net Zero (PINZ CDT), a collaboration between the Process Intensification Group at Newcastle University and the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York.

The PINZ CDT is supporting the process sector in its transition to Net Zero through innovative research with industry, and by training the next generation of process sector talent. It focuses on the impact of developments in energy, feedstocks and data on the process industry and its transition to Net Zero.

Businesses are being invited to define a PhD project in partnership with the PINZ CDT’s academics: participating organisations will benefit from four years of dedicated research time on their challenge areas or on developing new ideas, and be able to connect with a community of Net Zero innovators.

Combining strengths in both chemistry and chemical engineering, PINZ CDT was launched last year, and it’s part of the UK’s biggest-ever investment in engineering and physical sciences doctoral skills, totalling more than £1 billion. Companies including Proctor & Gamble, BOC, Durham Filtration, Northumbrian Water Group and Circular Carbon have already partnered with the PINZ CDT on co-created research projects.

Horizon Works is delivering a wide range of marketing services to the PINZ CDT, including animation, design and content marketing, to support process industry-focused campaigns, events and industry outreach.

Dr Ryan Siddall, Innovation & Partnerships Manager at Newcastle University, said: “Working with Horizon Works has been fantastic. They’ve helped us promote our CDT to potential industrial partners through engaging, informative content that creatively distils our key messages.

“Their knowledge and understanding of the process sector is second-to-none, and we’re excited to keep working with the team as the CDT develops.”

Samantha Vassallo, Managing Director of Horizon Works, commented: “We have a long history of working with research-intensive higher education institutions, academic partnerships and the process industry, and already support a number of clients in the chemical engineering and energy sectors. We’re drawing on this experience and the skills of our multi-disciplined team to promote the invaluable work of the PINZ CDT and deepen its engagement with industry.

“It’s extremely exciting that companies working in the process sector – from start-ups to major utilities providers – can tap into the world-class academic expertise and facilities offered through the PINZ CDT, as they develop new ground-breaking solutions. We’re very proud to be part of this!”
