Increasing demand for Fit for Defence programme support

We recently completed our 25th marketing health check of the year through the Make UK Defence Fit for Defence programme – and demand from SMEs for our consultancy services is increasing.

Fit for Defence is a business improvement programme for organisations of all sizes and experience in the defence sector. Through the programme, Make UK Defence’s specialists and partners assess an organisation’s strengths and weaknesses and develop a bespoke action plan to maximise its future growth.

Among the Fit for Defence partners are experts in areas such as marketing and communications, law, IP, bidding, HR, social values, project management, security, energy, health and safety, and export.

Horizon Works has been a Fit for Defence partner for three years: our work for the programme includes analysing members’ marketing messaging, brands and tactics, and creating a report filled with actionable recommendations.

We’ve provided advice on brand propositions, website improvements, SEO, LinkedIn, content marketing, marketing collateral and much more through the initiative.

One of the Make UK Defence members to have recently benefited from the marketing health check, delivered through the Fit for Defence programme, is Halifax-based WKW Precision Engineering.

Richard Booth, Operations Manager at WKW Precision Engineering, said: “The Fit for Defence marketing health check provided clear, practical insights into how we can better communicate WKW’s precision engineering expertise and uniqueness.

“Horizon Works’ recommendations are helping us strengthen our presence and visibility within the defence sector.”

Samantha Vassallo, Managing Director of Horizon Works, said: “The Fit for Defence programme is an important initiative which is helping SMEs to prepare their businesses for engagement with Primes and Tier Ones, at a time when building sovereign capability and strengthening UK supply chains is a priority.

“Make UK Defence is playing a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing sector and we’re proud to be bringing our industrial marketing expertise to its membership.”

Fit for Defence programme partners include: Abel + Imray; Pera Prometheus Consulting Ltd; Bidcraft; Canny Comms; CDS Defence & Security; Day 1 People; e50k Consultancy; Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP; Inspired Energy; Make UK Environment, Health and Safety Services; Make UK Employment Law & HR Services; Morgan Ryder; Opex; Proelium Law; and STR Group.
