Horizon Works teams up with EMN to launch Marketers’ Meet-Up event series

30th May 2023

Professionals working in marketing and sales in the engineering and manufacturing sector can face unique challenges.

That’s why Horizon Works has partnered with Engineering and Manufacturing Network to deliver an ongoing series of free seminars which bring marketers, PR specialists, sales professionals and business development personnel together to learn, share experiences and be inspired!

The Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up events offer attendees the opportunity to discuss challenges, benefit from impartial advice, gain sector insight and see how other businesses have shaped their marketing strategies and implemented tactics.

The regular events will feature guest speakers and industry panels, and will include networking sessions too – so there’ll be plenty of time to catch up with business contacts and make new connections!

The first Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up will take place from midday to 2pm on 7th June at Horizon Works’ Event Space at Northumberland Business Park near Cramlington, Northumberland.

Guest speaker at the first event will be Ben Moody, Marketing Manager of Alexander Battery Technologies, winner of the Insider Made In The North East Manufacturer of the Year (under £25 million) award.

Based in Peterlee, Alexander Battery Technologies designs and manufactures customised lithium-ion batteries and chargers for volume production projects. It also produces customised products for LiFePO4, NiMH and non-rechargeable battery packs.

Ben will be presenting on ‘Building a sales and marketing strategy to support growth’, and will be discussing what the company has learned from its marketing journey, and how it has grown its sales and marketing team.

June’s industry panel will include Ben Moody, Samantha Vassallo, managing director of Horizon Works, Neil Johnson, sales engineer at full service welding specialist EWM, Victoria Thompson, marketing manager at ice protection and drag reduction technology provider CAV Systems.

Further Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up are scheduled for July 12 and October 18.

Samantha Vassallo, managing director of Horizon Works, said: “Horizon Works has a long association with EMN and we’re delighted to be supporting the network through the Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up events.

“We work across the engineering and manufacturing landscape, often hand in hand with our clients’ own sales and marketing teams, so we have a great insight into the challenges businesses face in promoting their products and services, building brands and generating sales.

“The Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up events are intended to give professionals working across marketing, sales and business development a space to come together, talk to their peers and gain valuable tips on best practice, strategy and tactics.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming people to our Event Space in June!”

Ailsa Anderson, Director of Development at EMN, added: “EMN is a network for everyone who works to make engineering and manufacturing businesses succeed, and events such as these are a core part of strengthening that community.

“It’s really important that sales and marketing professionals can have a place to share challenges, ideas and experiences with their peers, and we’d urge anyone who works in these roles to come along and see how EMN and our members can help them.”

Headquartered in County Durham, EMN is a long-standing cross-sector network which is dedicated to building and strengthening North East England’s engineering and manufacturing community.

Horizon Works has been a member of EMN for several years and in 2021, we joined its affiliate programme.

As an affiliate, Horizon Works delivered a series of Marketing Lunch and Learn events at engineering and manufacturing facilities including Komatsu UK, Gestamp Tallent Ltd, AkzoNobel and The Expanded Metal Company.

EMN recently appointed Horizon Works to help it promote its events programme, membership benefits and its flagship EMCON event, which takes place on September 14 at Rainton Arena in Houghton-le-Spring.

As well as The Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up events, EMN is also running an HR Forum lead by recruitment specialist and EMN affiliate partner Jackson Hogg and a Business Leaders Peer Group, which offers an environment in which business leaders can address and resolve issues and learn new skills.

In addition, EMN will be working alongside the Women’s Engineering Society Tyne Tees Branch to deliver regular networking events for women in engineering and the University of Sunderland’s North East Maintenance Forum will now be operated in partnership with EMN.
